💃🕺 Olá olá! Today, we share with you some news about mangoUP, and 2 templates to further help you interviewing potential customers.
1. Thanks for your help
Thank you very much for filling our survey. We love getting to know you better! 😃 And we’d also like you to get to know this community better! Here are the key findings of our last survey:
Most of us are (very) early-stage. 60% haven’t started working on a business idea yet and the rest started within the last year.
Infographics and videos were the 2 most chosen ways to learn.
When we asked you what you would like to see more in The Tipsletter, more than half of you picked Templates, Examples, To-do lists, and Trend analyses.
You graded this newsletter 4.3/5 on average.
We are already adapting our content to the results 😁: we invite you to check our last article listing 6 customer segment strategies, and our first video (!), that Raquel shot in partnership with the YouTube channel Gen Z Talks:
Let us know what you think about these new formats 🙃.
And if you haven’t taken the survey yet, you can do it in 2 min HERE. Thanks!
2. Out to reach out to people?
One of the most difficult tasks when it comes to interviewing potential customers is actually to get a meeting with these people. That’s why today, our first template is to help you get more positive answers when you contact someone you don’t know at all on LinkedIn, or by email.
💡 There is only one rule you should remember when you contact people: be short, and ask clearly what you expect. The best is to ask for a timed and dated meeting.
🔑 TEMPLATE: Contact people and get positive answers
Let's do it in less than 300 characters so that you can use this template for LinkedIn!
Example 1: (as usual, a personal example!)
Hey Bram! I'm creating the first platform for student entrepreneurs. I just bumped on RoadtoScale, and it looks amazing, but I can't access the website... I would like to get inspired by the content you have there to share articles and videos. Would you be available to talk 30 min tomorrow? Thanks, Nico
Example 2:
Hi (Name), I read your article on volunteering your professional skills in Guatemala – really inspiring. I have a company trying to improve remote medical record coding. I’d love to get your advice on our product. Would you be available to chat for 30 minutes next week? Thanks! (Your Name)
3. Keep track of your findings
Analyzing the insights you get during the interviews is as important as conducting them. And to do that, amigo/amiga, you need to be organized.
If possible, record the interview. If not, take A LOT of notes. Interviews are extremely valuable work for you, and in the eyes of future partners, investors, accelerators, and clients. If you do it, do it right, please.
How much would it suck if you weren’t able to show the outcome of this discovery phase to anyone?
That's why we've created this template, for you to simply organize your notes and keep the insights of each interview you do.
🔑 Interview Insights Template
⁉️ "And btw, how many interviews should I do?"
Research has been conducted on this question. Believe it or not, 5 interviews on the same target are enough to collect 80% of the insights you need (from The Design Sprint). Thus, if you want to explore 3 target groups, the minimum is 15 interviews.
However, you are in a phase in which you need as much qualitative information as possible to draw trends. So, don't be shy, go talk to as many people as you can and don't hesitate to contact experts, via LinkedIn for instance. Don't only stick to the easy interviews (aka… your friends)!
My pleasure! Now, it's your turn. Good luck with your interviews! You'll see, once you'll have done 2-3, you'll already be way more confident.
And remember, you're here to listen, not talk! 😉
