Tip #4: Meet Master Yoda, Young Skywalker
🎯 Today's objective: A video you must watch. Adopt the right mindset from the beginning and avoid the 40%.
🙅♂️ There's something you need to accept: most projects fail for the simple reason that there's a high chance no one wants the product you have in mind right now...
In fact, around 40% of all the startups fail because they've built something no one needs, according to different studies). I know, that sucks. 40% is A LOT.
Luckily for us, some very smart and successful people created a methodology!
🎯 Today's objective: A video you must watch
I already see you coming with such an answer: "Nooooo, this won't be a problem for me, I know my people! They need what I'll make".
So, let me put it this way: Can you prove it to me, right now, with tangible data? Did you ask them, at least, if they want your product/service?
Discovering and understanding your customers takes time, requires talking and showing what you do to a lot of people, asking thousands of questions, and adapting constantly according to the opinions and insights you get.

👨🏫 We need a methodology. Meet Eric Ries, the Yoda of entrepreneurship.
The Lean Startup Methodology is today broadly known, shared, taught, and applied all around the world for one simple reason: successful entrepreneurs say they succeeded thanks to this approach.
This is a concept any person interested in entrepreneurship MUST KNOW, if you don’t want to feel really alone one day talking to other entrepreneurs, mentors or investors.
What's better than listening to the founder of the Lean movement himself to understand this concept? This is a video we really recommend you to watch, even if it's quite long. It's still faster than reading the book (which we recommend as well, with more than 1 million books sold, listed in the NYTimes Best Seller list, it's definitely a nice book), and he is a great speaker.
Once again, we strongly recommend watching the video above. But if you don't have 50 minutes right now, here is a short and very nice summary of the book:
Interesting, right?
With his examples, I guess you now understand better why spending some time talking to your potential/actual users can make you save a lot of energy, time, and money on building something the people you have in mind won't use.
Now, are you more in the mood...?
🤘 Let's do it, baby! You've just realized that you're making assumptions and/or you don't know a lot of things regarding your idea in order to make it work. You're ready to go Lean.
🖕 F*** you, I don't need that, I know exactly how I'll make it work! You think this is all bullshit or you're not very willing to follow the advice of this guy because you're quite confident in your idea and your capacity to make it work. Well... you can always come back anytime you feel lost!
For those who are ready to move forward, no worries, mates. We'll help you all along the way, even more than you can imagine!
